Love the back pack and all the features on it. From the material to the magnets and straps. The side zippers make it super handy to get anything in the back pack. The biggest drawback to me, is it doesn’t quite fit a larger laptop. I worry over time that it could start to wear it a little faster, and it can make for tighter packing at timesUpdate 2020-03-03:==========================================Knocking down to 4 stars for the following reasons:-Comfort: may be improved. Fine for short trips, but I imagine a whole day of exploring would strain my back/shoulders more than other bags would. Could be the way I have it packed, but the way it rests on the back is a just a tiny bit off.-Utility:The side access/flaps do not open as much(wide) as those on v1. Therefore getting a camera out requires considerably more effort (and caution!)==========================================Original review:Have been interested in the zip version ever since it was announced. Looks cleaner, a few hundred grams lighter. Improved straps -the old version of the Everyday Backpack really dug into my shoulder after a short while. Only con is lack of expandability which the normal Everyday Backpack has via the flap (and rungs).Aesthetics - 10Subjective, but I really like the simplistic look of the zip. I’m 5’10 with a lanky build and the bag doesn’t feel too large nor too small when worn high. Just right.Utility - 9Almost the same as the normal version. I think I could use an external easy-access pocket, but I’ve learned to make do. A pocket for a rainfly would’ve been awesome too.Durability - 9I’ve only had mine for two months, but so far it’s held up well (black version). Any scuffs / stains are easily taken care of with a wet cloth. I know the ash will hold up better, but the black is still nice.Space - 9This is a complete variable, since all of us will have different needs / gear. I have two bodies - a6600 + 24GM and A7R IV + 135GM. I have these two tucked vertically (divider in between) on the lower part of the bag.* I’ve reserved the top part as one large pocket for miscellaneous items. Space-wise the normal backpack would probably fare better especially when traveling when the wife and I tend to pick up an item or two.*With this set up, I can still carry the PD tripod on one external pocketValue - 8PD products are always pricey, but you could get them with 10% or so discounts via affiliate links. Aesthetically I find them better than almost everything out there. There are other attractive bags from other brands but they tend to be excessively heavy (ex Lowepro freeline)All in all I happily recommend the 20L Zip.The best backpack I have ever had.You could probably guess that Peak Design's smallest backpack is, well, tiny. I was previously using a Peak Design 5L sling to carry my minimal camera setup - a Sony A7 III with an Sony FE 85 F1.8 and a Sony 28mm F2. I typically store my flash units in other bags, but I'd always keep a flash trigger, an extra camera battery, a portable battery bank, and some cables to charge my phone and camera. When I purchased more lenses, I needed a bag that could fit a long zoom while it's on the camera. This bag fits camera setup perfectly - the Tamron 70-180 F2.8 does not have to come off the body of my Sony A7 III. I currently have the bottom row saved for clothing while my 85mm, 28mm and my flash trigger sits in the middle row comfortably. I placed my portable battery bank in the tablet section, and it actually has a separate slot that fits the battery bank perfectly. On the outside, there are two slots for bottles, neither of which fits an actual bottle unless you're drinking the 12oz ones that no one in America sells. It's fine though, since the bag comes with extra cables to tie a larger bottle on the bottom. I think this might've been supposed to be for a yoga mat as per their product videos.Overall, it fits my needs perfectly. I didn't want anything large and so this fits everything I need and more.I have tried to find the best backpack for a while... I admit - the price of this backpack is not cheap but hooo boy - the design, the material and their service are all impeccable.Best backpack ever...Bags need to be different for different people. For me, I do not worry about travel in crowded buses or crowded markets. I want my stuff accessible. It’s pointless to have my sunglasses in some bag where I will never dig them out for the drive, likewise water, likewise earphones. So far, this bag seems excellent. There are 10(?) loops outside the bag where I can attach stuff by small carabiners that I need quick access to in the car, or at home. There are two pockets outside which for me, I use for sunglasses and water. Inside there are a bunch of pockets that are super secure for wallet, ipad, and smaller items. There is a key tether which I find very useful for a car key. It is quick to release from the bag, and likewise quick to reattach once done driving. All in all, a very stylish and well thought out bag.I’m using this bag as my “personal bag” during airline travel. I bought the 15L and seems to be just right for light travel. Laptop sleeve is snug and a slightly rigid when wearing the bag. But the overall design is perfect. Great bag. Would recommend. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a day camera/purse bag. There is room for my Sony Mirrorless w/lens, batteries, sd cards, power pack etc, as well as all of my personal items. If you are a street photographer this is for you. Ladies there is ample room for sunglasses, wallet, make up bag, mobile phone. All wrapped up in a stunning urban backpack. Beautiful attention to details. Highly recommend this bag. This is now my only everyday bag and I carry it everywhere so I am always prepared for that perfect shot with a gorgeous backpack that does not scream camera equipment.Good bag all the quality’s I loved from updating from my sling 6l, however straps were to small so I sent it back and got the next size up the 20l instead… would of preferred the smaller size but oh well I’m now the proud owner of a 6l sling and 20l zip :)Being a PD user for a while - this, in theory would have been perfect as a day sack. Literally as soon as a put my new R5 in, I lifted by the strap and it snapped off, causing my bag to drop to the ground.Definitely reconsidering using the PD brand or anchors again; it’s instilled the fear in me.Great size and movable compartments are great. Not much weight to it but still sturdy- ideal of carrying camera equipmentLightweight with good storage and strong construction. Plenty of room for my camera equipment and the ability to configure for different types of photography tripsBought this Becuase the black wasn’t available sent it back and got black instead… as that’s where my comfort zone is…
