I just got this for more of a travel bag than hiking, while I might plan a hike or car camping one day. It's pretty big but not so big that I feel weird carrying it, that was a plus for me. However, I'm not sure how it would work for longer than weekend trips or if you were visiting a colder area of the world. I am a bad over-packer so if you are more of a minimalist packer you could probably make it work. If you are looking for your first hiking bag this might be a good choice as you get a lot for your buck and great quality. The biggest reason I chose the Renn 65 is I have the Osprey Daylite+ that I thought I could force myself to pack lighter for weekend bus trips back to visit family. I wasn't totally wrong but I had the Daylight+ stuffed full. I wanted to not destroy the Daylite+ with my trips back and forth so I upgraded to the Renn 65. I also like that you can attach the Daylite+ to the Renn which is actually really easy once you figure out how. If I do end up using hiking packs for trips by air or on longer/overseas trips I would likely get another backpack from Osprey. I'm very happy with Osprey's quality! As for weight, I think my stuff might weigh around 10-15 lbs but it feels more like only the weight of the bag on. I think I would happily walk the 2 miles from the bus station to my apartment back home. I think it would also feel the same if you have 25lb or so if traveling by air.The only thing I wish the Renn had was a bit big side pockets or at least on the women's version. I ended up getting an Osprey Daylite belt pack to use as a purse because my phone, coin purse, and a few purse items wouldn't fit into them. It would have been nice to go without needing a purse while traveling on the bus. Other than that the Renn is a super nice backpack and I think I'll love using it.NOTE: I gave 3 stars for travel as unless you already pack like a hiker it fills up quickly. I did use a 32L compression sack and it does help but because I had two bulky items it seemed to have taken up half the bag. I did pack for the weekend last weekend for my family of 4 and fit all the items I normally did in a duffle bag I use. This is my third osprey. I'm 5'5" with a longer torso and athletic build. Loaded this with 34 pounds and headed out for a 138 mile 9 day hike with little experience. It was perfectly comfortable. Can you get something lighter? Sure. Can you get something with more bells and whistles? Sure. I am very happy I bought this bag. Bought some stretch cord and clips to add on a criss cross-stuff things under to hold tight or dry for the day and I was good to go.Gift for my daughter. We are taking a trip from the US to the Philippines in a few days. I know I will be hopping on several modes of transportation before arriving to my destination we will be catching Planes, Boats, Buses and taxis. I don’t want to drag a bag behind me and opted for a backpack instead. I got 40lbs of stuff in this bag with room left. I purchased a bag for checking the bag at the airport and it worked out great. It’s attractive and comfortable..I used this for a backpacking trip into Zion. I love how many different ways you can adjust it until it fits just right for you. The pockets on the side are big enough to carry several items in each and the sleeping bag compartment was perfect for my 0 degree Teton bag. The shoulder and hip straps have enough cushion that they weren’t digging in anywhere. I hooked a few carabiners to the front loops to hang my extra shoes and compact coat to! Very well thought out designs.Pro- This pack is the lightest i've found that it true to the 65 liter size and cubic inches. Many packs say 65 L but the smaller sizes are around 59-62 in reality and often heavier. Quick torso adjustment made it simple to find the best fit while I was on trail.I'm a smaller person and I find this pack fits me like a glove, there's no sloppy excess movement as you climb over/under things.Lash loop on the front and top of lid let you add cord to strap things on the outside . Con- Sleeping bag zipper doesn't zip smoothly due to the overall shape of the zipper. Lid has one zipper that is narrow so you can't open the pocket wide and look in. .Hip belt pockets are on the small side.None of these cons are deal breakers since the over all function, fit an d comfort of the pack is fantastic. If they ever made a new Renn with extra pockets i'd definitely buy it again. My daughter came back from a 50 mile hike with gear on her back and she said the last thing she thought about was the Backpacking Backpack...I don't think the cost is reasonable and I wish it had more outer pockets. However I do think overall it was a good choice for a backpacking bag. It was fairly waterproof and comfortable on me.I just love this backpack. It's great how it is designed for woman. So far I did hiking trip with all equipment as tent sleeping bags and all and everything fit perfectly. I didn't need anything carrying outside of the tent and its designed the way that it perfectly fits on the back. I didn't feel it's weight that much even if carrying 20 kg (well of course I could feel it but comparing to any other backpack I have ever tried this one is the best and spread weight evenly). There is plenty of pockets (I love ones on my hips which allow me to carry most important things as money or so next to me). I'm planning many trips as hiking ones as just travelling and this backpack is just great for anything. I can easilly pack myself for longer holiday or just few days or if I'm carrying tent or whatever. Truly great purchase.Bought as a present for daughter.. not been used in any hardy conditions yet but on first inspection it looks great.. she is delighted.Great fit, good pockets and comfortable.Fabulous bag. Such good quality. Let’s hope it can handle three months travelling!I have only tested it on a few short outings and will be thoroughly tested over the next three weeks but so far it is a great backpack!
