I admit first of all that I do not plan on using this for hiking, camping, and other true "hard use". However as this is my 3rd experience with Maxpedition products and it is early on, I recommend it.I bought this to use for the daily grind to the office, and for EDC on the weekends.I have tried the Maxpedition Sitka and the Lunada and though I loved the quality that was built into the bag (double stitching, thick material, YKK zippers), they didn't quite fit the bill as far as size.Problem solved with the PF2! The main compartment is roomy enough for a binder, folders stuffed with paperwork, etc and I can even squeeze my lunch in there. The middle compartment is the perfect admin area, and though very simple (not many pen slots or extra dividers and pockets), I find it is adequate since I also own the Maxped organizer which fits nicely in the compartment. The EDC organizer (purchased separately) has all the loops I need for flashlights, knives, usb drives, etc.The outside pocket appears small but runs deep and I use it for quick grab items such as mail, paperwork I need to show quickly, and hand sanitizer.Initially I thought the Y-strap and buckle would be a hassle but I now see the need for it. With the full clamshell opening, if the bag is "stuffed", it will take stress off the zippers and help secure the load. Plus at the office I can leave the bag unzipped and just buckle up to keep the bag in shape, then unbuckle quickly if i need to grab a file. So in this situation it actually saves a little time. When it first arrived I inspected it closely, and the stitching, both inside and out, looked as flawless as can be expected. I don't know if they improved it since the review that mentioned "thin side material", but mine is just as robust as the material throughout. Combined with the rubber material on the bottom (great feature!), I don't foresee any gear ripping through this pack, unless one of your pocket knives opens and forces through. For normal cargo......very confident it will be secure.I think my search for the perfect pack for my own needs is over.....for now!!
